York is one of the coolest cities in Europe in my opinion. It’s a medieval city full of history at every turn. There’s already so much to see and do here if you’re wanting to step back into history. But if you make a turn into 9 3/4 Shambles (yes, that’s the real address!), you’re greeted to something else altogether! You’ll see cobbled streets, magical shops, and Harry Potter themed treats and wands amongst many more. Read on to see the top 5 places I think you should visit here!
1. The Society of Alchemists

This cosmetics shop is amazing, full of character at every turn. It sells body, bathing and candle products – but you really feel as if you’re buying elixirs, potions and crystals instead! Every product is carefully themed. The entire shop seems enchanted – books that move, dragons that breathe, and magical music fills the air. It’s not a shop to miss!
2. Take a walk along the streets itself

Even the streets of York have something to offer. You’ll see characters in the streets, and you’ll be able to see all the shops available for you to go inside and explore! This is in itself a unique travel spot.
3. Explore the Market Stalls

Explore the handcrafted products at the Shambles Market. It has everything to offer – themed notebooks, magical alcoholic drinks, fresh fruits & vegetables, sweet bouquets and more. This is a place where you need to take your time!
4. Have a drink at The Potions Cauldron

Transport yourself to the world of Harry Potter with some Butterscotch beer – its sweet caramel flavour is enchanting (and super delicious). If you’re after more potions, there’s Basilisk Blood, Unicorn Essence and more for you to try.
5. Go to the Shop that Shall Not be Named

Despite it’s name, I had to put it on this list! This is the ultimate Harry Potter shop for any fan – you can choose and buy a wand, buy jumpers, mugs, and more from the different houses, and try different sweets (like the Chocolate Frogs)!
I have also made a full length video about this, as there is just so much to talk about! Watch it below. Don’t forget to follow me on all my socials to stay up to date whenever I post more!
