The best breakfast spot in Leeds city centre

With award winning, fluffy pancakes and a Japanese flair for constant innovation (croffles, earl grey cheesecakes and more), this spot is not one to be missed.

If you’re anything like me and have a sweet tooth, Leeds has an abundance of independent cafes as well as worldwide chains setting up shop. If you’re feeling particularly indulgent, read on to see this award-winning place to eat in Leeds town centre.

The best breakfast place in Leeds city centre is…

Fluffy Fluffy! It derives its name from Fuwa Fuwa – the Japanese word for fluffy, because they serve up souffle, Japanese style pancakes. Each pancake begins with egg whites whipped to soft peaks, essential to their finally airy quality, and are then cooked very slowly at low temperature, making them soft, bouncy, and light.

What sets Fluffy Fluffy apart?

It isn’t just your average dessert place. Their pancakes are award winning. Not only this, but they continually push the boundaries of pancakes and other desserts. Whether it be savoury croffles (a cross between a croissant and a waffle), crème brulee pancakes or earl grey burnt top cheesecakes, Fluffy Fluffy’s captures the Japanese essence of innovation which sets it completely apart. You can’t get dessert like this anywhere else. It’s a taste of the East, and now easily accessible to the West, right from the centre of Leeds.

How does it taste?

You can choose many toppings to put on them, ranging from flavours like Oreo to tiramisu, however I went with the Nutella and banana, a classic combo. The presentation is luxurious – a small jug of Nutella, bananas halved and plated delicately on the side. It’s dusted lightly with sugar, with a dolloping of velvety whipped cream on top. A Ferrero Rocher and mint leaf top it all off providing a truly upscale experience without the upscale cost.

The pancakes were soft, light and airy. The Nutella was rich, and combined with the refreshing strawberry and banana, it was absolutely delicious. You can tell the ingredients are high quality – smooth, velvety, fresh, and not overly sweet.

What else can I get at Fluffy Fluffy?

Although of course known for its pancakes, they have a range of other desserts as well. Burnt top cheesecakes, roll cakes, delicious coffee and other drinks are just some of the things served up here. Their menu is ever growing too, take a look at some of the other things on offer here.

Where is it located?

It’s based in the Headrow Leeds, but they also have other stores across the country. Check it out here.

In conclusion, Fluffy Fluffy is a solid option if you wake up with a sweet tooth! But with opening hours until 10pm, you can also get your fix at any time of day.
