Fun date night idea – Create your own Pottery in Leeds

If you’re wanting to change it up a bit – then this is a great place to go with your partner or with a group of friends. Get creative! Whether you want to go simple, unleash your inner Picasso or something in-between, this is the place to do it.

If you’re ever searching for things to do, pottery classes are a great way to unleash your creative side! It’s a great way to spice up the day, and at the end you can come back with a nice piece of pottery – whether it be a mug, plate, or even a milk jug. Simply call up and reserve a table.

We went to Jack Rabbits Pottery in Leeds, where we settled on some big mugs from all the tea we’ll be drinking (it’s winter at the time of writing this, so it’s come in quite handy!) We were led to the table we’d reserved a few hours before, where loads of sponges, paints, pencils and stencils were at our disposal. It was great fun tracing our designs before we drew them, and if we ever were in doubt about how to improve our designs before we painted them, the friendly staff were always on hand to help.

We got two hours to draw and paint – I settled on a design encompassing my three loves – travel (of course), languages, and reading. I then chose a light colour pink to finish off the design off the mug, painting around my carefully drawn conversation bubbles, my book, and the plane. It was honestly great fun – even though I’m not an artist by any means, it was nice to flex my art muscle and do something a bit different than the usual restaurant outing or shopping (although I do love that as well).

If you’re getting peckish doing all that painting, Jack Rabbits has got you covered – with an array of snacks and a drinks selection to choose from. We settled on some biscuits and coffee, which was a welcome respite from the cold, and made the activity so cosy!

When we were all done, we simply left our mugs on the table, and picked them up around two weeks later when they had been fired, which gives the mugs that glossy look. They were wrapped in a brown paper all ready for me to take home, and now it’s a great addition to my cabinet. I love that out of all the mugs I have, this mug, with all its imperfections, is something that I made, which makes it all the more special.

If you’re wanting to change it up a bit – then this is a great place to go with your partner or with a group of friends – have fun with your designs and get creative! Whether you want to go simple, unleash your inner Picasso or something in-between, this is the place to do it.
